London – 1896
A series of brutal murders shakes 19th-century London. At ever shorter intervals, savagely murdered women are found in the city’s popular squares, their bodies utterly disfigured and mutilated.
Scotland Yard’s only chance of catching the killer now seems to be renewed cooperation with the master detective. The inspector in charge has asked you to convince Sherlock, in a personal conversation, to work with him once more.
So you set off for Sherlock’s house to ask him to cooperate again and solve this case together. When you arrive, you find the door merely ajar – no one answers your knocking and calling. You could swear you hear a faint, muffled woman’s scream as the front door falls shut behind you and, after a brief moment of shock, you set out to find the source of that presumed cry …
